ELITE TRAVELER JUL/AUG 2003
Villas on Bluefields Bay is a cluster of private cottages nestled in the greenery of Jamaica's Southern coast incorporating Jamaican antiques, fine china and linens and beautifully carved mahogany four-poster beds; each villa (there are five total) has a distinctive feel. Villas are staffed with a chef, butler, chambermaid, nanny, gardener, beach attendant and a property manager who stocks the pantry with special foods and makes sure your every request is fulfilled. Guests have included former Vice President Walter Mondale and actress Jodie Foster. San Michele ($12,000 a week), the largest of the villas, sleeps up to 14 people in seven bedrooms, and features a secluded swimming pool set back on the lawn amidst fragrant frangipani and heliconia (as well as a private island from which guests can watch the sun set over the water). For a little extra TLC, the nearby Oasis Spa offers relaxing hot rock treatments and rejuvenating massages by Owner and Head Therapist Jaci Fraser, plus soothing aromatherapy teas after your session.
